First Ormazabal wind farmRecently the Hermanville wind farm was powered up on Prince Edward Island, Canada, for which Ormazabal has supplied fully gas-insulated cgmcosmos cubicles, certified for the Canadian market. This farm, which has 10 3-MW wind turbines, accounts for our first reference in the Canadian renewable energy sector.
As a result of the location of the wind farm, the units supplied -in addition to complying with all the standards and requirements of the Canadian market- must be prepared to withstand extremely adverse environmental conditions, especially the low temperatures and high salinity to which they will be subjected.
Ormazabal participated in the installation and commissioning of the units, bringing all of our experience of more than 11 years specialising in these types of installations, in order to make sure everything operated correctly.
With this reference we are continuing to grow in the renewable energy market, especially in the North American wind power sector, being one of the main suppliers of medium-voltage switchgear in the USA in 2013.
Unlike the traditionally-used technology in North America, at Ormazabal we install our medium-voltage, cgm.3 and cgmcosmos switchgear in the wind turbines themselves (in accordance with the IEEE and CSA standards), improving safety and maximising the reliability of the system as a whole. In 2013 we were the leading suppliers of these types of installation in the United States.
