The largest wind farm in the worldWe now find ourselves in the largest wind farm in the world, located in the Tehachapi Mountains (Alta, Oak Creek – Mojave, California).
Alta Wind Energy Center is a benchmark project on a worldwide scale. Between 2010 (phases I-V) and 2011 (phases VI-VIII) around 300 1.5-MW and 3-MW wind turbines have been installed, adding up to a total capacity at this time of 1,320 MW.
In 2015 the project is expected to be completed with the installation of another 300 wind turbines, thus allowing the farm to cater for the needs of 257,000 homes.
As a result of the fact we have world-class, highly reliable products with very compact dimensions that comply with all the safety standards, we have been chosen to supply the medium-voltage switchgear on several of the farm's phases. In this case, fully gas-insulated, cgm.3 cubicles have been supplied in accordance with IEEE standards and certified for the American market. Furthermore, an on-site training course was given to the installation, operation and maintenance teams, attending to the specific needs of this customer.
This project enables us to continue to expand our presence in the North American market and to show our long-term commitment to it.
