Ormazabal participates, with its product, in the exhibition of Iberdrola's Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub projects
The event, which was attended by King Felipe VI, served to raise awareness of Iberdrola's innovation ecosystem and its suppliers
Ormazabal, a company expert in customised, high-tech electrical solutions, was part of Iberdrola's network of suppliers that participated in the exhibition day of the projects of the new Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub. The event, held this past Monday 22nd November at Iberdrola's Tower, was attended by King Felipe VI and served to promote the collaboration projects between Iberdrola and its suppliers, among which is Ormazabal, to promote the smartisation of the electricity grid and the sustainable development of society.
During the meeting, which was attended by Javier Ormazabal, President of Velatia, and Jorge González, CEO of Ormazabal, the innovative automated low-voltage board addibo was presented, which allows remote monitoring and operation of the low-voltage grid to provide an efficient response to the new energy challenges, taking advantage of the existing infrastructures and maintaining the quality of service.
About the Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub
Iberdrola's Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub is a global innovation and knowledge centre that aims to be a world benchmark in smart grids and that will be able to respond to the challenges of the energy transition. The centre acts as a driving platform for innovation, combining the company's technological capacity with that of its collaborators: suppliers, universities, technology centres and start-ups. It also serves to attract strategic suppliers and international talent, thus strengthening the business ecosystem. The project has the fundamental support of Iberdrola and the Provincial Council of Biscay.
The company has already identified more than 120 projects for their future development for a value of 110 million euros and has reached agreements with 50 technology partners for the development of grid digitalisation solutions, integration of renewables, deployment of electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
This public-private collaboration space -with more than 1,000 m2 and located at Iberdrola's network headquarters in Larraskitu- was created with the aim of accelerating innovation and R&D&I in the real backbone of decarbonisation: smart grids. A hub that combines cutting-edge technology, research, training and entrepreneurship, and is equipped with the latest developments in digitisation, artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics, among many other fields.
These projects are being structured through various working groups, which are made up of representatives of the main industrial companies in the area, such as Ormazabal.
