TSG Ormazabal Joint VentureFor the last two decades, Malaysia has been one of the biggest markets for Ormazabal outside Europe. Since the early 1990’s, over 60 000 functional units of gas insulated secondary distribution cubicles / RMU type ga, gae, CGM and cgmcosmos, have been installed into Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)‘s electrical networks in all single provinces in the Peninsular Malaysia, and also in Sabah and Sarawak.
In addition to the activities in the public distribution area, during the last five years, together with its local partners, Ormazabal has completed landmark projects in infrastructure, industry and tertiary segments by introducing its fully GIS single and double busbar primary distribution switchgear type cpg. Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) port in Johor, Yahoo's data center in Putra Jaya, Coca Cola factory in Nilai, and some five star hotels in the Peninsular Malaysia are some of the projects where main substations have been energized by Ormazabal cpg type GIS panels.
Following the success of its cpgs type GIS panels, in 2012 Ormazabal and one of its main partners, Tenaga Switchgear Berhad decided to form a Joint Venture (JV) to start assembly and cabling of cpg type panels in Malaysia. The JV has been established during 2013 and the first panels assembled locally in Tenega Switchgear Berhad's factory have already been type tested in the accredited international laboratories.
The first board meeting of the JV was celebrated in Bilbao (Spain) on December 2013, following to a visit of a VIP delegation from Malaysia leaded by the President and CEO of TNB and Mr. Hisham Halim, the Managing Director of Tenaga Switchgear Berhad. The JV aims to improve the quality of service in TNBs main and switching substation by reducing the interruption time thanks to maintenance free GIS panels suitable to the tropical operating conditions in Malaysia.
