We celebrate 25 years of promoting electricity supply security and facilitating the integration of renewable energy in Brazil.

  • We have an office in São Paulo and an industrial plant in São Sebastião do Passé (Bahia) from where we serve the main demands of the local market.
  • Over our 25-year history, we have participated in major projects in Brazil such as the Iguazú and Maringá airports, as well as the Campo Largo and Chafariz wind farms.

Our presence in Brazil reaches a fundamental milestone this week as we celebrate the milestone of our first 25 years since our arrival in Brazil. During this time, we have participated in some of the most relevant projects in terms of the electrical grid in the country, with the aim of promoting the security of the electricity supply and facilitating the integration of renewable energies. To commemorate this anniversary, we held a meeting in São Paulo and a visit to the Ormazabal facilities in São Sebastião do Passé (Bahia), which was attended by Urbano Murillo, Chief Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Spanish Embassy in São Paulo, Nilza da Mata, Mayor of São Sebastião do Passé, as well as representatives of the company.

In the words of Jorge González, CEO of Ormazabal, “we are confident that we will continue helping to connect more renewable energy, contributing our knowledge in the sector so that Brazil remains a world reference in the production of green energy.” Something that Alberto Paniagua, Manager of Ormazabal in Brazil, highlighted when he stated that “the renovation and modernization of our office, as well as the expansion of our production center, are a clear example of our commitment to adapting to the needs of an increasingly demanding and diverse market.”

Furthermore, the delegation of representatives from Spain was complemented by Alejandro Ormazabal Echevarría, Vice President of Velatia, who wanted to be present in the first quarter of a century of a very relevant presence for the business group.

Ormazabal in Brazil

Ormazabal’s presence in Brazil dates back to 2000, when we opened the commercial office in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, with just 5 employees. Today, we have more than 40 employees, divided between our commercial office in São Paulo, where services and engineering are managed, and our industrial facilities in São Sebastião do Passé, where the manufacturing and adaptation of medium-voltage switchgear for the local market and the integration of various key elements for the electrical grid, such as transformers and low-voltage switchgear, are concentrated. These facilities, recently remodeled with a strong technological component, are capable of manufacturing 1,200 units per year to meet the growing investment needs for improving the electrical grid.

Thus, during the company’s 25 years of activity in the country, at Ormazabal we have supported several large companies such as Neoenergia, ENEL, Equatorial, Vestas, SGRE, and many other companies from different sectors; as well as participating in major projects in Brazil such as the Iguazú and Maringá airports, as well as the Campo Largo and Chafariz wind farms.
