Lugo will have two new wind farms promoted by Endesa.

The Galician province will incorporate, with the help of Endesa, 54 MW of renewable energy into its electricity generation mix through two new wind farms.

Enel Green Power España, the renewable energy division of Endesa in Spain, has announced the construction of two new wind farms in Galicia. Specifically in Paradela, province of Lugo.

Both projects are a result of Endesa being awarded 540 MW in the public renewable energy auction. Of these, 92 MW will be generated in Galicia.

Two Endesa wind farms that will generate 92 MW

Thus, and as clarified in the press release from Europa Press, the largest of the wind farms will be called Serra Das Penas. It is a 42 MW wind farm with 21 wind turbines of two megawatts of unitary power. And a technology based on a three-bladed rotor with a diameter of 114 meters. And a tower 93 meters high.

As for the second of the wind farms, Paradela, it will generate the remaining 12 MW. To do so, it will use six wind turbines with the same characteristics as its “older brother“. Something for which a partnership has been formed between Endesa itself and the Paradela City Council.

The Serra das Penas substation will be responsible for incorporating the energy generated by both wind farms. Which will come into operation before 2020, to the Galician electricity grid.

About Endesa

The company Endesa distributes electricity in Spain to more than 22 million consumers. To do this, it has 316,562 kilometers of distribution and transmission networks and 115,602 GWh of distributed energy.

Not in vain, it is the leading company in the Spanish electricity sector and the second operator in Portugal. Some of the data to understand their work are:

Total electricity production reached 78,648 GWh at the end of 2017:

  • Peninsular production in ordinary regime was 62,164 GWh.
  • Thus, there was an increase in combined cycle production of 118% compared to the previous year.
  • Nuclear production rose by 2.6%.
  • Meanwhile, hydroelectric power plants increased by 30.2%. And coal plants by 17.2%.

Meanwhile, production in the Non-Peninsular Territories (TNP) was 13,043 GWh, with an increase of 3.2% compared to 2016.
