FEDGWARE - Full Adaptive service middleware for edge federation

Project ZL-2024/00660

The FEDGWARE project has been co-financed by the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government through the Hazitek program and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union.

The main objective of FEDGWARE, a collaborative project between IKUSI and ORMAZABAL, is to generate a new model for coordinating and processing industrial data at the edge, providing autonomy and intelligence to the devices responsible for collecting the data. To achieve this, it focuses on developing middleware that enables federation between different edge nodes with aggregation and computational capabilities, providing data processing power to the entire network so that decision-making can be carried out efficiently and in real time wherever needed. Validation of this new solution will be performed through a use case in the energy sector, which faces heterogeneous environments, a distributed nature, and near-real-time computing requirements. The FEDGWARE project’s primary objective is the design and development of a federated and decentralized middleware that will allow the application of analytics and intelligence to the edge nodes it coordinates. This will allow each node within the federation to communicate with each other and securely and efficiently share unused data and computing resources. This will require generating know-how and developing new technologies related to each phase of the project.
