FEDGWARE – Full Adaptive service middleware for edge federation

Project ZL-2024/00660

The FEDGWARE project has been co-financed by the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government to through the Hazitek program and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union.

The main objective of FEDGWARE, in which IKUSI and ORMAZABAL collaborate, is to generate a new model for the coordination and processing of industrial data at the edge, providing autonomy and intelligence to the devices in charge of collecting the data. To do this, it addresses the development of a middleware in charge of enabling the federation between different Edge nodes with aggregation and calculation capacity, providing data processing capacity to the entire set so that decision-making can be carried out efficiently and in real time wherever necessary. The validation of this new solution will be carried out through a use case in the energy sector that faces heterogeneous environments, a distributed nature and near-real-time computing needs. The main objective of the FEDGWARE project is to design and develop a federated and decentralized middleware that will enable analytics and intelligence to be applied to the edge nodes it coordinates. This will allow each node participating in the federation to communicate with each other and share data and computing resources they are not currently using, securely and efficiently. To do this, it will be necessary to generate Know How as well as new developments in relation to the technologies involved in each of the different phases of the project
