Ormazabal supplies a power distribution solution to a large data center

For a data center to function properly, failsafe protection must be guaranteed. This is because even brief power grid failures or power fluctuations can damage sensitive software and hardware. For this reason, when Hetzner Online was expanding its data center fleet with four additional units (each with a performance potential of up to 22,000 servers), the company again relied on Ormazabal technology for its medium-voltage supply.

Ormazabal solution and challenge:

Due to the increasing need for energy, Hetzner Online located the data center next to a center operated by the supplier in order to take advantage of the advantages offered by the infrastructure. The energy, generated from renewable energy sources to better protect the environment and climate, is received directly from there.

Two distribution stations with Ormazabal gae switchgear distribute the energy in a decentralized manner, at the low voltage level. To meet the customer’s specific requirements, the proven standard system has been equipped with seven switchgear. Thanks to their modular structure, these can be expanded on the machine without having to enter the SF6 enclosure. The two new distribution centers were supplied ready for connection, in a concrete station. Ormazabal participated in the first expansion of the data center park in 2009.
