SABIA - Battery-Based Storage Solutions for Industry

The SABIA project is a project led byOrmazabalThis project is part of the Basque Government’s “HAZITEK 2016” program. The companies CEGASA Portable Energy and MONTELEC Montajes Electrónicos are also participating. It runs from 2016 to 2018.

Goals:

The overall objective of the project is to develop advanced energy solutions for industry, optimally adapted, based on electrical storage, that improve the energy and economic efficiency levels of the sector in which they are integrated and that contribute to the development of a more competitive and environmentally sustainable industrial sector.

Improving energy efficiency in the industrial sector is addressed by focusing on the two most influential factors:

• Energy consumption: Reduction of energy consumption from primary sources (electricity grid) and maximum use of own generation sources and taking advantage of variable electricity prices.
• Power consumption: Minimizing consumption peaks and allowing for well-adjusted power contracting.
