SABIA – Battery-Based Storage Solutions for Industry

The SABIA project is a project led by Ormazabal and is part of the Basque Government’s “HAZITEK 2016” program. CEGASA Portable Energy and MONTELEC Montajes Electrónicos are also participating. It will be developed during the years 2016-2018.

Objectives:

The general objective of the project is to develop advanced energy solutions for industry, optimally adapted, based on electrical storage that improve the levels of energy and economic efficiency of the sector in which they are integrated and that contribute to the development of a more competitive and more sustainable industrial sector from an environmental point of view.

The improvement of energy efficiency in the industrial sector is addressed by acting on the two most influential factors:

• Energy consumption: Reducing energy consumption from primary sources (electricity grid) and maximum use of own generation sources and taking advantage of variable electricity prices.
• Power consumption: Minimizing consumption peaks and allowing the contracting of well-adjusted power.
