SMARTTRAFO – for Smart Grids

Ormazabal leads the SMARTTRAFO project within the framework of the MINECO’s “Collaboration Challenges” program. The project will be carried out during the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 and also involves DIAEL, F2I2 and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

 

Objectives:

 

The objective of the project will be the development of a Smart Transformer, for networks of up to 24 kV and transformer powers between 250 kVA and 2000 kVA, which will allow voltage regulation, facilitating the integration of new renewable energies without building additional electrical infrastructures, guaranteeing their safety through the development of specific protection relays and including preventive maintenance through the development of an online partial discharge diagnostic system.
