STAP SMARTTRAFO – Smart Transformer Protection & Automation

The STAP SMARTTRAFO project is a project led by Ormazabal within the Basque Government’s HAZITEK program. It was developed during the years 2016-2018.

Ormazabal identified an opportunity, with great potential, in the commercialization of smart transformers that solve the current problems of integrating renewable energies into the low-voltage grid and future problems, when the management of the electric car becomes a difficult reality with the current electrical infrastructures.

Objectives:

The objective of the STAP SMARTTRAFO project is to develop an innovative, robust and reliable system for the protection and automation of intelligent distribution transformers (Smart Transformers) to guarantee the safety of people, equipment and facilities, and ensure their correct operation.
