We celebrate 25 years driving the security of electricity supply and facilitating the integration of renewable energy in Brazil

  • We have an office in Sao Paulo and an industrial plant in São Sebastião do Passé (Bahia) from where we meet the main demands of the local market.
  • In our 25-year history, we have participated in major projects in Brazil such as the Iguazu and Maringa airports, as well as the Campo Largo and Chafariz wind farms.

Our presence in Brazil reaches a significant milestone this week as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. During this time, we have participated in some of the country’s most important electrical grid projects, aiming to strengthen the security of the electricity supply and facilitate the integration of renewable energy. To commemorate this anniversary, we held a meeting in São Paulo and visited Ormazabal’s facilities in São Sebastião do Passé (Bahia). Among those present were Urbano Murillo, Chief Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in São Paulo; Nilza da Mata, Mayor of São Sebastião do Passé; and company representatives.

In the words of Jorge González, CEO of Ormazabal, “We are confident in continuing to help connect more renewable energy, contributing our expertise in the sector so that Brazil remains a global leader in green energy production.” Alberto Paniagua, Ormazabal’s Manager in Brazil, echoed this sentiment, stating that “the renovation and modernization of our office, as well as the expansion of our production center, are clear examples of our commitment to adapting to the needs of an increasingly demanding and diverse market.”

In addition, the delegation of representatives from Spain was complemented by Alejandro Ormazabal Echevarría, Vice President of Velatia; who wanted to be present at the first quarter of a century of a very relevant presence for the business group.

Ormazabal in Brazil

Ormazabal’s presence in Brazil dates back to 2000, when we opened our sales office in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, with just five employees. Today, we have over 40 employees, divided between our São Paulo sales office, which manages services and engineering, and our industrial facilities in São Sebastião do Passé. These facilities are dedicated to the manufacturing and adaptation of medium-voltage switchgear for the local market and the integration of various key components for the electrical grid, such as transformers and low-voltage switchboards. Recently renovated with a strong technological focus, these facilities are capable of producing 1,200 units per year to meet the growing investment needs for upgrading the electrical grid.

Thus, during the company’s 25 years of activity in the country, from Ormazabal we have supported some large companies such as Neoenergia, ENEL, Equatorial, Vestas, SGRE and many other companies from different sectors; as well as participated in large projects in Brazil such as the airports of Iguazu or Maringa, as well as the wind farms of Campo Largo or Chafariz.
