The range of 24 kV cells completes Ormazabal’s portfolio of SF6-free products, facilitating the sustainable transition of the network and the insertion of renewables

These solutions are intended for primary and secondary electricity distribution, and are essential in the wind sector, where Ormazabal has over 30 years of experience and 100 GW of power connected to the grid

Wind Europe 2024 – the most important wind energy event in Europe, which is taking place in Bilbao this year – has served as a stage for us to complete our ranges of fluorinated gas-free cells for 24 kV electricity distribution networks: cgm.zero24 and sbp.zero24. These ranges, which are designed to transform and improve the sustainability of the electricity grid, have been developed using natural industrial air: manufactured in a controlled and tested manner, using only air components and commercially accessible and patent-free.

These products allow electricity grid operators to maintain the same safety, reliability and grid performance as with current SF6 equipment, reducing the environmental impact and complying with the new European regulations on fluorinated gases in line with climate neutrality objectives. This has been achieved thanks to the fact that, after more than 10 years of continuous research, Ormazabal has maintained the design, operation and maintenance parameters of the current equipment, which has been proven for more than 30 years; making this one of the most complete solutions on the market at all levels.

The range of SF6-free switchgear for 24 kV bursts onto the market months after the global presentation of Ormazabal’s first technological solutions without fluorinated gases, which took place last June during CIRED, in Rome, and which was very well received by the sector, supporting its “route to zero” towards a scenario of completely SF6-free products.

This launch is in line with our strong commitment to the European objectives of climate neutrality and the well-being of the population, promoting the electrification of society. Challenges that are part of their DNA and in which they actively collaborate through the digitalization of the electrical grid, which facilitates the connection of electric mobility, storage, and renewable energy infrastructures.
