Hannover’s first ultra-fast charging station goes live – A Pilot Project with Enercity

Hanover-based energy service provider Enercity has put a total of ten charging points into operation on the premises of a restaurant, conveniently located near the A2 and B6 motorways, including four DC rapid charging stations with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW. Drivers can recharge their electric cars here in just a few minutes. There was previously no mains supply at the site, so Enercity turned to Ormazabal to implement the project.

Ormazabal challenge and  solution:

A ga 2k1ts 630 A Ring Main Unit was installed in the substation for Medium Voltage distribution. The system’s very compact design also meant the building could be correspondingly small-scale, so the concrete substation measures just 2.4 x 2.6 metres. Low Voltage distribution board has also already been integrated in the unit. In addition, Ormazabal ensured that the switchgear and substation buildings have been tested in accordance with EN 62271-202.

Ormazabal developed a concept for the customer’s specific use and designed the building for the switching station. One special consideration was the transformer needed for this location, which had to be designed to handle the high charging capacity. In collaboration with the international Ormazabal business units, the Ormazabal sales department in Germany was able to offer a custom e-mobility transformer with 800 kVA that was individually tailored to the project.
