Elf Doktorarbeiten für den Aufstieg der Smart Grids

MEAN4SG, a European collaboration project on smart grids. Ormazabal is participating in the project. And it will train eleven researchers to develop their theses on the rise of European Smart Grids

Three weeks ago, the University of Zaragoza, through the CIRCE (Center for Research on Energy Resources and Consumption), hosted the launch meeting of the MEAN4SG (Metrology Excellence Academic Network for Smart Grids) project.

This is a project funded by the European Commission with 2.8 million euros, through the Horizon 2020 program. Its objective is to leave behind the current technological barriers in this key sector. The objective is to facilitate the deployment of the so-called smartelectrical networks. As well as taking advantage of the rise of Smart Grids in Europe.

Ormazabal, a key partner in the project

The project will train eleven researchers to develop their thesis on smart grids. And it is made up of a consortium of leading European companies, universities and R&D&I centers. Among them, in addition to TU/e (Netherlands), LNE (France), ENEL (Italy), Strathclyde (United Kingdom) and other European references, is Ormazabal, thanks to the CIT (Research and Technology Center).

About the CIT

the rise of Smart Grids

The facilities of the Ormazabal Research and Technology Center have the world’s most modern High Power Laboratory (HPL).

In addition to a Medium Voltage Demonstration and Experimentation Unit (UDEX). A highly configurable network unit independent of the main grid. This allows the development and testing of new technologies, products and services in a safe and controlled environment.

Thus, the CIT has official accreditations such as ENAC and LACC. Positioning Ormazabal and Velatia at the highest level in terms of R&D capacity in fields that work on the rise of Smart Grids and energy efficiency.
