Ormazabal CEO Jorge González met this Thursday with European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson.

The meeting, which took place in Brussels, brought together the main CEOs of the companies that make up T&D Europe, which brings together the main associations of European manufacturers of electrical equipment goods

The main manufacturers of electrical equipment goods, grouped within T&D Europe – made up of the most important national associations in this sector – and the European Energy Commissioner, Kadri Simson, held a working meeting this Thursday the 30th in Brussels. The meeting, in which Jorge González, CEO of Ormazabal – a leading company in the development of technological solutions for the electrical grid – participated, was part of the “CEO Meeting 2021” event, which brought together the main representatives of the European electrical equipment industry on September 29 and 30 in the European capital.

During the two-hour meeting, industry and institutions had the opportunity to address the main technological challenges that European society will face in the coming years. Issues such as grid modernization and its “smartization,” a greater participation of renewables within the energy pool, the rise of electric vehicles, and the emergence of energy storage dominated the topics of a meeting that served to share the European strategy in this regard.

Simson, who has held the European Energy Commission since 2019 and was Estonia’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure in 2016, has been instrumental in the development of the European Green Deal, the socio-economic growth plan based on changing the continent’s energy model towards a sustainable ecological transition that seeks to make Europe the international benchmark for tackling climate change.

Energy has been established as one of the strategic pillars within the economic recovery plan presented by the European Commission to alleviate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the old continent. Brussels sees European industry as the foundation for cementing technological leadership in energy. Not in vain, the companies associated with T&D Europe represent a combined turnover of 25 billion euros and employ a total of 200,000 people in Europe.

Ormazabal and T&D Europe
Ormazabal was one of the companies that most decisively supported the creation of T&D Europe, an association that was finally established in June 2009. Since then, Ormazabal has been involved in the governance of an association that, in turn, brings together the national associations of the main European electrical equipment manufacturers. Ormazabal works every day for the recognition of T&D Europe as a trusted partner in the European Union’s efforts to achieve climate neutrality goals by achieving the electrification of the economy based on a resilient grid.
