Ormazabal CEO Jorge Gonzalez has met with the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson

The meeting, which has taken place this Thursday in Brussels, has brought together the main CEOs of the companies that make up T&D Europe, which brings together the main European associations of electrical equipment manufacturers

The main electrical equipment manufacturers, grouped within T&D Europe – composed of the most important national associations of this sector – and the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, have held a working meeting this Thursday in Brussels. The meeting, which has had the participation of Jorge Gonzalez, CEO of Ormazabal – a leading company in the development of technological solutions for the electrical grid -, was part of the event “CEO Meeting 2021”, which has brought together the main representatives of the European electrical equipment industry during the 29th and 30th of September in the European capital.

During the two-hour meeting, industry and institutions have had the opportunity to address the main technological challenges that the European society will face in the coming years. Issues such as the modernization of the grid and its “smartisation”, a greater participation of renewables in the energy pool, the rise of the electric vehicle and the emergence of energy storage have been the topics of a meeting that has served to put in common the European strategy in this regard.

Simson, who has been in the European Energy Commission since 2019 and who held the position of Minister of Economic Affairs and Estonian Infrastructures in 2016, has been key in the development of the European Green Deal, the socio-economic growth plan based on the change of the continent’s energy model towards a sustainable ecological transition that seeks to turn Europe into the international benchmark for tackling climate change.

Energy has become one of the strategic pillars of the economic recovery plan presented by the European Commission to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the old continent. Brussels sees the European industry as the basis for laying the foundations for technological leadership in energy. It is not for nothing that the companies associated in T&D Europe represent a combined turnover of 25,000 million euros and employ a total of 200,000 people in Europe.

Ormazabal and T&D Europe
Ormazabal was one of the companies that pushed hardly for the creation of T&D EUROPE, an association finally launched in June 2008. Since then, we have been deeply involved in the governance of the association of Europe’s transmission and distribution grids technology providers, as well as in the works of all its WGs and TFs. We work for the recognition of T&D Europe as an active supporter of the EU efforts to achieve climate-neutrality targets through the electrification of the economy based in a resilient electricity network.
