Ormazabal connecting Beinn an Tuirc Windfarm Phase 3

  • Beinn an Tuirc is a windfarm located on the Kintyre peninsula in Western Scotland since 2001
  • The windfarm was developed and is operated by Scottish Power Renewables
  • The construction of Phase 3 of the site commenced in September 2019 and consists of 14 turbines, providing up to 50 MW of generation capability

In a new collaboration with Kirby Group Engineering, we have supplied, delivered and installed our cpg.0 ENA medium voltage switchgear on SSEs Distribution Network to enable the 33 kV connection of the windfarm to the grid. Protection schemes conform to Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE North) requirements, who are the DNO for this region.

Beinn an Tuirc Windfarm Phase 3 was commissioned in 2021 and increases the total number of turbines on site to 78, providing a total green generating capacity of up to 118 MW.

Beinn an Tuirc Windfarm Phase 3 demonstrates our capability in providing solutions for applications in DNO regions and also further increases our presence in the UK Renewable Energy sector, a key market for Ormazabal.
