Ormazabal contributing to the development of the Welsh solar market

Ormazabal has supplied a customer substation for the Llwyndyrus Solar Farm, a subsidy-free generation site located on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales.

The Ormazabal solution consisted of an 11 kV GRP connecting substation which included our cgm.3 ENA medium voltage switchgear, the protection panel and an auxiliary transformer.

The construction of this 6 MW subsidy-free solar PV project marks an important step forward for the renewables market in Wales, as solar developments have been in short supply since UK government subsidies were phased out. Already fully operational and connected to the grid, the 4.5-hectare array will provide renewable energy to meet the annual needs of approximately 1,350 Welsh homes.

This project reinforces our partnership with Electrical Infrastructure Services (EIS). It is another prime example of our capability, and a demonstration of increasing experience and presence in the UK’s renewable energy sector, which is a key market for Ormazabal.
