Our Igorre (Bizkaia) secondary distribution factory has been honored with the prestigious “Continuous Improvement in the Industry” award, presented by the renowned Kaizen Institute in recognition of the application of improvement methodologies in our industrial organization. The award, which was presented during an online ceremony on November 7th, acknowledges the work that the Ormazabal team has undertaken in a project focused on the boilermaking section of the factory, dating back five years. According to Jose Luis Bilbao, the General Manager of Ormazabal Secondary Distribution, “it has been a long and challenging journey with ups and downs that requires the commitment of management and the perseverance of the entire organization”.

Furthermore, during the 2023 Kaizen Continuous Improvement in the Industry Awards ceremony, the General Manager of Ormazabal Secondary Distribution used his acceptance speech to highlight the crucial work carried out by the entire team. He stated, “The real pillar is the people who, with their knowledge and contributions, are the driving force of transformation”, addressing the viewers who followed the live presentation.

This award represents significant recognition of our strong commitment to good industrial practices, a value that is reflected in our leading position in the portfolio of medium-voltage technological solutions. Indeed, our dedicated focus on quality industrialization, demonstrated through continuous investment in processes, machinery, and methodologies, has been rewarded in recent years with various awards, including the Gold A from Euskalit in 2017, as well as the Advanced Management award in the Innovation category in 2019 and the Customers category in 2021, all awarded by Euskalit, the Basque Agency for Advanced Management.

Roberto Hernando, the Industrial Director of Ormazabal’s secondary distribution factory, also emphasized that the project “has resulted in a return on investment both financially and in terms of a profound cultural change in a very short period of time”. This sentiment was echoed by Jon Elejabarrieta, responsible for production and continuous improvement, who noted that among the major challenges posed by the project, “the most important was to generate a cultural change in the workforce toward a model based on continuous improvement and the involvement of all personnel at different levels in projects for productive improvement, quality, ergonomics, safety, and standardization”.
