For a data centre to operate successfully, failure safety must be guaranteed. This is because even brief failures or fluctuations in voltage within the power grid can damage sensitive hardware and software. For this reason, when Hetzner Online was expanding its data centre park with four additional units, each with a performance potential of up to 22,000 servers, the company once again relied on technology from Ormazabal for the supply of medium-voltage power.

Because of the increased energy requirement, Hetzner Online sited the data centre next to a substation operated by the supplier to achieve infrastructure-related benefits. Energy, generated from renewable energy sources in order to better protect the environment and climate, is fed in directly from there.
Two power distribution stations with Ormazabal gae switchgears distribute the power on a decentralised basis, at a low voltage level. The proven standard system has been equipped with seven switch panels to meet the customer’s particular needs. Thanks to their modular structure these are extensible at the machine, without requiring entry into the SF6 enclosure. The two new energy distribution stations were delivered ready to connect, in a concrete station. Ormazabal took part in the first expansion of the data centre park in 2009.
