Ormazabal takes part in the Wind Europe Annual Event 2022, presenting its solutions for the wind energy sector

The event, held in Bilbao, has allowed us to show our specific industrial and technological capabilities for this sector to more than 8,000 energy professionals.

On 5, 6 and 7 April, we took part in the leading event for the European wind energy sector: WindEurope Annual Event 2022. This on-site exhibition, which took place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre and was held after a two-year pause due to the COVID pandemic, brought together the main players in the field of electricity and wind energy. We have repeated our usual presence at the event with a stand where thousands of visitors have been able to learn about our specific solutions for the wind energy sector. We have more than 30 years of experience and more than 90GW protected and connected to the grid worldwide.

In addition, on the last day of the event, the “Talent Day” took place, a day where we received the visit of dozens of students from universities and vocational training centres in the Basque Country, to explain the opportunities and advantages of developing their professional career in the energy sector.

About Bilbao WindEurope Annual Event 2022

WindEurope Annual Event is the congress par excellence of the European sector and will be held for the second time in the city of Bilbao, a key industrial and technological hub in the development and promotion of renewable energies – especially wind energy – and electricity grids. Thus, the port of Bilbao stands as an enclave of attraction for the offshore industry due to its participation in the manufacture of several prototypes of pioneering floating platforms for floating offshore wind power. Designs which, in a few years, will become the basis for a whole sub-sector that will develop exponentially to reach 7GW installed on the European coastline by the year 2030.

This year’s edition, which was a special one as it was resumed after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, brought together more than 8,000 participants who came to learn about the main innovations from the leading companies and authoritative voices in the sector. To this end, 300 speakers, compared to the 155 who participated in 2019, led 70 specialised thematic presentations.

The fair, which kicked off with the inauguration by the King of Spain Felipe VI, is organised in close collaboration between WindEurope, the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), the Basque Government and the Global Wind Energy Council. The event was also attended by representatives of the energy ministries of Norway, Denmark, the United States and Scotland, among other countries.
